Turtle: Mississippi River Museum Process

Image

Here are the various stages of the turtle in process. I started with Modeling the hair, beard and mustache.

I then moved on to painting the face and body. Even though you most likely will not see the chest, I still painted in brown just in case.

Finally I dressed him in a shirt and jacket using a medium called Paverpol which hardens the fabric. I feels like plastic. Finally, after finishing the painting and the the last details, I loaded him on the truck and away he went. What a great opportunity and a great project!

Turtle: Mississippi River Museum

For the past few weeks I have been working on this guy. He is part of the exhibit for the National Mississippi River Museum here in Dubuque, IA. He is about four feet tall and we are aligned with area sponsors of the turtle exhibit to decorate their turtles. I gave him hair, a beard, and a mustache and put him in a suit jacket to dress him up a bit. I will put together my process and post that here soon as well. You can see him at Family Beer and Liquor in East Dubuque, Illinois.
