Bernie Sanders Illustration: Version 2

Continuing the variations to the Presidential Candidates Portrait Series. I like this approach with the quick, bold watercolor washes and a hint of the splatter technique. They remain spontaneous with the energy of the wash giving them an unexpected splash of color and texture. I will post the rest as I complete them. It’s hard to keep up with all of the candidates entering and dropping out.

Hillary Clinton Portrait (again). This time I am combining a lighter watercolor wash with the splatter technique that I enjoy. It has a great deal of energy and passion to it. The spontaneous application of the watercolor feels much more natural and less controlled. I like this approach as well.

Dr. Ben Carson is still another Republican candidate for U.S. President. According to bencarson.com he directed pediatric neurosurgery at the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center for 29 years, received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2008, and holds 67 honorary doctorate degrees.

I’m just trying to keep up with all of the candidates and it looks like he is currently catching up to or is tied with (depending on the poll) Donald Trump here in Iowa.
