Pérez the Mouse is similar to the Tooth Fairy in English cultures and is almost universal in Spanish cultures. Leave your tooth under the pillow and he’ll exchange it for a gift.

Prince – Purple Rain Illustration
Pencil, Pen and Ink, Watercolor

Another installment in my series of work featuring musicians. This piece is again 22″ x 30″ on watercolor paper. I start by drawing the image in pencil followed with the line work with brush and pen and ink washes. The background is watercolor wash with splatter and dripping techniques.

I’m finishing them off by selecting a song and working type digitally on top. These are quite a bit of work but a great deal of fun!

Prince Illustration Process Images.
Two process stages of an image of Prince. The first is the pencil drawing and the second adds the brush and ink stage. I’ll add some color next and finish it off with type from one of his songs. This is 22″ x 30″ on Arches cold pressed watercolor paper.

I’m starting a new series of work featuring musicians. These are larger pieces at 22″ x 30″ on watercolor paper. I start by drawing the image in pencil followed with the line work with pen and ink washes. The background is watercolor wash with splatter and dripping techniques.

I’m finishing them off by selecting a song and working type digitally on top. These are quite a bit of work but a great deal of fun!

A couple of process images. I’m working on a series of drawings of musicians. This is Andrew Bird. I wanted to get a copy of this version. I have changed the eyes in the final version but this shows a bit of the process in the pencil drawing. Still trying to keep the line quality lively and loose with pen and brush work. This piece is 22″ x 30″ and I will throw a bit of color on at the end.

Martin O’Malley is the former Mayor of Baltimore and Governor of Maryland who recently was seeking the Democratic nomination for U.S. President in 2016. According to his website, martinomalley.com, he worked to pass marriage equality in Maryland, signed a bill banning discrimination against transgender Marylanders, raised Maryland’s minimum wage, and helped to revitalize Baltimore’s economy among other things. O’Malley has since dropped his run for U.S. President.
