Dubuque Farmer’s Market. Dubuque, IA.

This is the updated version of this piece. I previously posted a first draft and have since continued to develop it. This is the newest version.

I’m participating in the Sketchbook Project this year. It’s part of the Brooklyn Art Library. A great concept and should be a lot of fun and a challenge to complete. This is the first in the book, another scene form the Dubuque Farmer’s Market. Watch for more updates.

Farmer’s Market: Dubuque, IA.

Every Saturday Dubuque has a farmer’s market downtown as do most cities these days. It has grown quite a bit in the last few years and it’s a good place to walk around and spend a little time and a little money on fresh and local produce.

Five Flags Theater :: Dubuque, IA

Image

A drawing that I just completed of the Five Flags Theatre in Dubuque, IA. This is a fantastic old building where you can enjoy local theater and musical performances (The Dubuque Symphony Orchestra plays here). It’s a renovated 1910 theater and was once a movie theater. It was almost destroyed during the urban renewal processes that went on around the country. It was spared and renovated in 1975. It’s a beautiful building and I just love looking at all of the details in the architecture. I have actually been working on this piece off-and-on for the past year and finally finished it. It’s a large piece (for pen and ink) at about 22″ x 23.”
