Lawrence Lessig is a Harvard Law Professor who was running for the Democratic nomination in the 2016 U.S. Presidential race. According to the lessig2016.us web site. He helped to build the field of internet law in 2002 when he “co-founded Creative Commons, which gives artists and authors free tools to share their creativity widely on their own terms.” Additionally, he “helped challenge regulations that weakened the freedom of creativity and threatened the Internet, serving on the boards of the Free Software Foundation, the Electronic Frontier Foundation, the Software Freedom Law Center, and Public Knowledge.”

Lessig ended his nomination on November 2, 2015 leaving the Democratic nomination field a little smaller.
